Assistant Administrator

Location: RM of Viscount No.341 and/or Village of Viscount Employment Term: Full Time – 35-40hrs/wk.
Wage: $20-25/hr depending on experience and qualifications Start Date: Immediate or as negotiated

The Rural Municipality of Viscount No. 341 (RM) and the Village of Viscount (Village) invite applications for the position of Assistant Administrator. The Assistant Administrator will report directly to the Chief Administrative Officers (CAOs) of the RM and Village.

The Rural Municipality of Viscount No. 341 will be the official employer for this position; however, the successful candidate will provide administrative support to both municipalities and will be required to work from the Village of Viscount office two days per week. The successful candidate may also be required to work additional days at either the RM or Village office, depending on operational requirements.

The Assistant Administrator will be expected to provide coverage during CAO vacation periods and other approved absences to ensure continuity of municipal operations and administrative services.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Front office daily activities including customer service, daily correspondence, filing, data

    entry, receipting and preparing deposits

  • Entering accounts payable and receivable
  • Prepare Council meeting packages and correspondence, attending meetings if required
  • Website management and basic IT troubleshooting
  • Monthly Utility Billing and Collections
  • Assist with grant applications and programs
  • Assist with Rec Board secretary/treasurer duties including community centre bookings
  • Fill in for the CAO when they are unavailable
  • Other duties as assigned

    Experience and qualifications preferred:

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Friendly and courteous demeanor
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to multitask and prioritize work
  • Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Problem solver able to work under deadlines
  • Knowledge of municipal operations, experience in a leadership roll and knowledge of

    MuniSoft are an asset.

  • Experience with budgeting, financial operations, assessment, taxation and general office

management are an asset;

  • Someone who possesses a Certificate in Local Government Administration or equivalent are an asset;
  • Must be bondable.
